Abstract --This study is aimed on the seismic resistant assessment methods and draw-up the related operation regulation. Firstly collect the seismic-resistant (or aseismic) assessment methods frequently adopted in Taiwan and industrialized countries (including preliminary assessment and detail assessment), and conduct the comparison study on the theories and procedures of various methods; discuss the improvements for the seismic-resistant assessment methods frequently adopted in Taiwan.
Secondly re-organize the procedures, rules and systems of aseismic assessment methods collected from industrialized countries such as USA and Japan; and conduct the analysis on the characteristics of various assessment methods; also propose the suitable procedures, operation rules and systems of seismic-resistant assessment methods able to be applied to Taiwan.
Finally the suitable methods for aseismic assessment of building structures are proposed such as Strength Ductility Method, Pseudo-Elastic Method, Capacity Spectrum Method; and Step by Step Analysis Method. These proposed aseismic assessing methods associated with illustrations are presented herein this report, to enable engineers to carry through in applications for aseismic assessment for the building structures. The draft of the related regulations for seismic resistant evaluation and management are also presented.

Key words-- Aseismic; Assessment; Capacity; Ductility; Pseudo-elastic; Seismic Resistant; Spectrum; Step by Step Analysis; Strength
