Abstract -- This is the 1st year of the CGS 5-year project “Environmental geology database mplementation of urban area slopeland in Taiwan” commenced from 2002. This project consists of 4 sub-project, they are (1)the investigation of rock mass engineering properties, (2)the investigation of slopeland geological hazards, (3) the investigation of tunnels of underground mines, (4)the implementation of GIS database of environmental geology.
The main purpose of this project is to collect and integrate all geological hazard data related to Taiwan slopeland, and finally establish a basic environmental geology GIS database to support the potential civilian users and most important the government decision-making. This report is the result of the 1st year project, the study was carried out in Taipie-Keelung area and Hsing-Chu area. The result includes the thematic maps and the environmental geology GIS database of study area also. There are 4 themes for each study area, and each theme has 14 1:25,000 quadrangles maps.
