Preliminary Planning & Design Methods for Bridges Across Active Faults

Abstract -- This research is aim to study the effects of sliding tectonic plates on bridges and find out the solution for bridges across the rupture area of the active fault. Although it maybe impossible to avoid the damages such as bridge collapsing and column tilting, the study will provide ideas and recommendations for planning of the bridges across the fault to avoid or minimize both the damages on bridge structures as well as the human lives after the destructive earthquakes.
